Festival

The Institute of Art History at the HUN-REN Research Centre for the Humanities is once again preparing for a grand event!

From September 25 to 27, 2025, we will host the Látkép (Panorama) Art History Festival for the second time in Budapest, at the Research Centre for the Humanities. The guiding principle of the event remains unchanged: to present the ever-expanding and enriching world of art history in a kaleidoscopic manner.

With the 2025 festival, we aim to achieve new goals: we are stepping onto the international stage! Four English-language sections will feature invited speakers sharing their innovative approaches. At the same time, by engaging partner institutions more actively and offering a richer program lineup, we hope to reach a broader audience.

The heart and soul of the festival remains its extensive conference, where presentations organized around more than 20 themes will reflect the diversity and methodological richness of art historical research. Central European phenomena will play a prominent role among the topics, while the focus will continue to be on examining art historical periods, issues, and the discipline itself from a global perspective.

Our interdisciplinary sections aim to foster valuable dialogue between art history and related fields. Together, we seek to reimagine the role and position of art historians within the scientific ecosystem.

But that’s not all! Látkép (Panorama) 2025 is open not only to the academic community but also to the general public. Beyond the traditional conference framework, professional workshops, engaging discussions, exclusive collection tours, and other creative programs will ensure a vibrant festival atmosphere. The series of events offers opportunities for both in-depth professional engagement and community building, while placing the latest questions in art history within an exciting international context.

Join us at the Látkép (Panorama) 2025 Art History Festival and become part of this inspiring event!
